Meet the People Behind Critter Management Inc.

Get to know the experienced team members who help keep Lowcountry homes, businesses, and wildlife safe every day.

Joey Maffo

Owner / Operator

Joey Maffo has literally been part of Critter Management since he could walk. Growing up learning the ins and outs of wildlife removal from his grandfather, Joey developed a deep respect for the craft, the animals, and the families he helps protect.

After taking a brief detour from the family business to explore other opportunities, Joey never stopped wrangling alligators and working with wildlife. During this time, he also became a roofing salesman at JW Roofing, where he gained invaluable experience in business operations, roofing expertise, sales, and customer service. These skills would later become the foundation for his successful takeover of Critter Management.

Seeing the potential of the company and the legacy of his family, Joey returned with a mission: to elevate Critter Management, strengthen systems, improve communication, and enhance its reputation. Today, he leads the team with passion, dedication, and a hands-on approach, ensuring every job is done right and every client is taken care of.

Michael

Technician / Wildlife Specialist

Michael has been part of the Critter Management family for about 10 years and started catching critters long before it was his full-time job. He began trapping snakes and handling alligators in high school, heading out after school with Joey and spending summers doing gator shows. After graduating, he stayed on full time  and never looked back.

Michael brings a strong work ethic, hands-on wildlife experience, and a real passion for what he does. He’s known for his persistence and attention to detail, making sure critters are removed properly and homes are protected for good.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys fishing, golfing, going to the range, and working on cars with friends. Around the job site, he’s the one bringing the laughs and keeping the team smiling and over the years, he’s truly become part of the family.

Shaun

Technician

Shaun has over 20 years of hands-on experience and is a true workhorse in the field. A native of the islands, he grew up hunting and fishing, giving him a deep understanding of local wildlife and the environments they live in. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving skills make him a trusted leader on every job. When he’s not on the job, Shaun enjoys unwinding with episodes of The Walking Dead and spending time outdoors whenever he can.

Brownie

Team Leader

There’s truly no one like Brownie. When something needs to get done, he’s the guy you call  give him a task and he’ll have it handled, often in his free time. He’s a natural leader who keeps the crew motivated, moving, and focused, and because of that, some of our biggest projects have come together faster and smoother than ever.

Brownie has been part of the Critter family for many years, and we’re beyond grateful to have him back with us full-time. Since his return, the team has accomplished so much, thanks to his work ethic, leadership, and ability to keep everyone on track.

Outside of work, Brownie loves spending time with his son, Landon. When he’s not doing that, you can usually find him fixing up a car, working on his RV, or tackling whatever project he’s got going on next — because he always has one.

We’re lucky to have him, and the team wouldn’t be the same without him.

Dana

Office Manager

Dana is the backbone of the Critter office. She’s been keeping things running for more years than anyone can count, and through every transition  new leadership, new staff, new systems Dana has always been the steady constant. When others moved on, she stepped up. When help was needed, she took over.

No matter what needs to be done, Dana finds a way to get it handled. She manages incoming calls, coordinates schedules, directs the field team, and keeps the office moving forward  often behind the scenes and without hesitation. If there’s slack to pick up or pieces to put back together, Dana is already on it.

Outside the office, Dana loves trying new restaurants and doing things for the people around her. She brings that same generosity and positivity to work every day, always with a smile on her face and a genuine thank-you for everyone she interacts with.

Critter simply wouldn’t function the same without her, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything she does.

Kaylee

Operations Support

Kaylee is one of those people who simply gets things done  whatever “it” happens to be that day. One moment she’s answering phones and scheduling, the next she’s cleaning the shop, checking traps, or heading out to set them. She wears a lot of hats, and she wears them well.

She’s been part of the Critter family on and off for many years, and we’re excited to have her back full-time. Her flexibility, reliability, and willingness to jump in wherever she’s needed make her an invaluable part of the team.

Outside of work, Kaylee is usually staying busy  whether she’s cleaning houses or spending time outdoors with her son, Landon. No matter what she’s doing, she brings a strong work ethic and a get-it-done attitude that we’re grateful to have back at Critter.

Devin

Events Coordinator

Devin is the Events Coordinator for Critter Management, specializing in wildlife education programs, birthday parties, community events, and interactive animal experiences. She helps organize and coordinate events that bring people closer to animals through hands on learning, unforgettable encounters, and engaging presentations featuring reptiles, small mammals, and exotic animal ambassadors.

Devin is passionate about animals, wildlife education, and creating meaningful experiences that help people connect with nature in a fun and engaging way. One of her favorite parts of the role is introducing Critter Management’s animal ambassadors, especially the gators, to the community while helping guests learn more about wildlife, build confidence around animals, and turn fear into understanding through positive interaction and education.
